Mold removal in a Plainfield basement usually comes after a water problem nobody caught in time. Drywall, carpet pad and wood framing that stay wet for more than 24 to 48 hours give mold what it needs. The back side of finished basement drywall, the bottom of wood stud walls and cardboard boxes stored on concrete are where we find it most.
We start by finding the moisture source. Removing mold without fixing the water means it grows back. Then we set up containment with plastic sheeting and negative air machines with HEPA filters so spores don't spread through the ductwork into the rest of the house.
Moldy drywall and insulation come out and get bagged inside the containment. Framing and concrete get HEPA vacuumed, scrubbed and treated. We dry the area fully before anything is rebuilt.
Small surface growth on hard materials can often be cleaned. Mold growing inside a wall cavity or across a large area of drywall needs removal. We will tell you which one you have.
The best way to avoid mold removal is fast drying after the water gets in. If you had a sump pump overflow or foundation seepage that sat for a while, have us check the walls before you put everything back. Lingering smells are handled with odor removal.
