Structural drying is the part of water damage work people don't see, and it is where most jobs go right or wrong. Getting the water off the floor takes hours. Getting the moisture out of studs, subfloor, drywall and concrete takes days, and it has to be measured.
We set commercial LGR dehumidifiers and high-velocity air movers based on room size and how wet the materials are. For wall cavities we drill small holes at the bottom plate and push dry air in with injection drying systems, which can save drywall that would otherwise be cut out. For hardwood and subfloors we use drying mats.
Every day we take moisture readings at marked points and compare them against a dry reference in an unaffected part of the house. Equipment keeps running until the readings hit that target. That log goes to your adjuster.
Plainfield summers are humid. Opening the windows and running a box fan can push more moisture into a basement instead of pulling it out. Closed-up drying with dehumidifiers is faster and more predictable.
Structural drying comes after every basement water extraction job we do. Done right, it usually means mold removal is never needed. For wood floors upstairs, see hardwood floor drying.
